Burglary Suspects Arrested at End of Vehicle Pursuit

This afternoon, the RPD officer assigned to the Galleria at Tyler received information from security that two males were driving around the parking lots in a stolen car. The officer quickly coordinated between RPD and security while keeping track of the suspects who exited the stolen car and where casing the parking lot on foot. Air 1 was called in and RPD patrol units staged in the area. The suspects split up, one going back to the stolen car and the second suspect continuing to walk the parking lots. The second suspect was seen breaking into a car, taking property and then getting into the stolen vehicle with the other suspect. As the two suspects left the Galleria property, area units attempted to conduct a traffic stop. A pursuit ensued westbound on the 91 Freeway exiting onto northbound La Sierra. At Golden and Schuler the passenger got out of the car and fled on foot while the driver continued to lead units on the pursuit. Air 1 followed the suspect on foot as he traveled through apartments and other properties. The fleeing vehicle ultimately collided with a parked car in the 4600 block of Minnier Avenue where the driver was taken into custody without incident. The second suspect was apprehended in an apartment complex in the 4600 block of Sierra Vista. The driver of the stolen vehicle was taken to an area hospital for medical clearance due to the collision and the then both suspects were booked into jail.
