On August 7, 2015, at about 10:18 a.m., Corona Police Officers responded to the Best Western Hotel in the 1800 block of Pomona Road reference a report of an employee having found two bodies inside the hotel room.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased adult male, later identified as Per Ake Ingemar Soderstrom (64 years of Corona) and his spouse, later identified as Jeanette Soderstrom (62 years of Corona), who was severely injured. Mrs. Soderstrom was transported to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment and she is now currently in stable condition at Loma Linda Hospital where she continues to recover.
A suicide pact note was located at the location however detectives are still investigating the incident and circumstances surrounding the event. The cause of death for Mr. Soderstrom is undetermined pending a toxicology report by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
