Officer Involved Shooting In Riverside

On Saturday, August 29, 2015, at approximately 1:52 am, two Riverside Police Department officers were on patrol in the area of La Sierra Avenue and Norwood Avenue, when they heard gunfire in the area. The officers responded to the area of the gunshots and observed several people running in the street. A foot pursuit ensued and subsequently an officer-involved shooting occurred. During the preliminary investigation it was discovered that no one was injured by the officer’s gunfire.

During the subsequent investigation, three suspects were detained and two firearms were recovered at the scene. At this point, it appears the patrol officers happened upon a gang-related shooting. One person has been located and interviewed who appears to have been injured in the initial shooting prior to the officers’ intervention in the incident. That person’s injuries are not life-threatening. No police officer was injured.

Two suspects were later identified and booked into the Riverside County Jail.
