Individuals are Impersonating Corona Fire Safety Inspectors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It has come to the\u00a0attention of the Corona Fire Department that certain individuals may be misrepresenting themselves as fire department employees. Businesses are being targeted by individuals who wear official looking \u201cuniforms\u201d and perform questionable \u201cfire safety inspections\u201d.\u00a0 These individuals typically enter businesses and state that, \u201cthey need to inspect the fire protection system.\u201d\u00a0 These components can include alarms, fire sprinklers, hood systems, and fire extinguishers.\u00a0 Oftentimes, these \u201cinspectors\u201d ask an unsuspecting employee to sign a form authorizing the inspections.\u00a0 Subsequently, the business owners will receive an invoice for various services that were performed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Corona Fire Department inspects businesses annually and fire department inspectors will always have proper Corona Fire Department identification.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Business owners should ensure that companies who service their fire protection systems are legitimate.\u00a0 This can be accomplished in these five simple steps;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>They must identify what company they represent and produce proper identification.<\/li>\n<li>They must tell you what they intend to do and give you an estimate BEFORE you agree to their services (DO NOT pay in cash).<\/li>\n<li>They must be able to produce a City Business Tax Certificate.<\/li>\n<li>They must leave any parts they have replaced and charged for.<\/li>\n<li>Do not allow an unsolicited company to service your fire protection systems.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Other things you can do;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ask to see their City Business License.<\/li>\n<li>Ask to see their State License.<\/li>\n<li>Before agreeing to have your fire equipment serviced, check with several approved service companies to get competitive bids.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Anyone who offers \u2013 or demands \u2013 to inspect your business but does not meet the above standards should not be confronted.
