Fatal Traffic Collision In Riverside

On Friday, August 14, 2015, at about 2:05 AM, members of the Riverside Police and Fire Departments responded to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a single vehicle on Van Buren Blvd. south of Arlington Ave.

Officers determined a 2014 Nissan Sentra, being driven by a 62 year old Riverside resident was traveling south bound on Van Buren Blvd. and entered the intersection of Arlington Ave. on a green light. A 35-40 year old unidentified female, pushing a shopping cart, crossed Van Buren Blvd. from east to west in the south crosswalk against the red light. The unidentified female pedestrian walked into the path of the south bound vehicle and was struck. She was transported to Riverside Community Hospital in serious condition. Due to significant injuries, the pedestrian was later transported to Loma Linda Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries from the traffic collision. The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office responded and is in the process of identifying the unknown pedestrian.
