Corona PD detectives and forensics team are investigating what appears to be a homicide at Best Western Corona located at 1084 Pomona Rd, according to Sgt. Paul Mercado
At 10:18am officers responded to the Best Western on the 1000 block of Pomona Rd after an employee found what she thought were two dead bodies and a dead dog with a lot of blood. When officers arrived they discovered one deceased adult male and one severely injured adult female along with a deceased dog. The woman was transported in unknown condition to Riverside Community Hospital. The victims have not been identified. No suspect info.
“We’re still up in the air with what we’ve got,” police Lt. Alan Lorton said Friday evening, Aug. 7.
Until Corona PD learns more they are not releasing details on what weapon was used and the extent of the injuries. The elderly female was found unconscious at 10am and has still not been awakened as of Friday night police said. She was originally taken to Riverside Community and has since been transferred to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased adult male, later identified as Per Ake Ingemar Soderstrom (64 years of Corona) and his spouse, later identified as Jeanette Soderstrom (62 years of Corona), who was severely injured. Mrs. Soderstrom was transported to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment and she is now currently in stable condition at Loma Linda Hospital where she continues to recover.
A suicide pact note was located at the location however detectives are still investigating the incident and circumstances surrounding the event. The cause of death for Mr. Soderstrom is undetermined pending a toxicology report by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
